German publication DER SPIEGEL reports Opel’s best year in terms of sold vehicles in years despite cancelling activities in Russia.

For some reason they included a Top Ten List of the 10 most beautiful US GM cars.

Strangely there are two Opels included beneath other questionable picks.

The list is about the prettiest General Motors cars, that’s why there is Opels there. It’s not about all US cars

I was about to be up in arms then I translated.. Only the top 10 beautiful GM’s. still a shit list any way you slice it, mostly. A cadet and a GMC van? really? and only one cadillac? I mean sure it’s the ultra rare eldorado biarritz (I rode in a 59 BTW, jealous?) but still.. wtf. fail list

Honestly this could just be a list full of pre war cars. But here goes nothing. In no particular order.

- Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton

- 1935 Auburn 851 Boattail Speedster

- 1965 Mustang Fastback

- 1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible

- 1955 Ford Thunderbird

- 2005 Ford GT

- 1965 Corvette Stingray

- 1941 Lincoln Continental Convertible

- 1959 DeSoto Adventurer

- 57 Bel Air

Most aren’t bad, but neither of those Opels would be on my list, especially not the Kadett. The Vandura and the Hummer have no place on there either. Disappointed by the lack of 30's-40's metal, which is, in my opinion, when some of the most beautiful American cars were made.

Yes but the body is a modified British body. Just like this Cadillac is a modified Italian body. Still American but with a fancy Italian suit.

It clearly says General Motors in the title, hence the absence of Ford/Mopar and the inclusion of some german engineering. Speaking of which they included the wrong Opels.

Even for a GM centric list, this fails. I agree with about half of the picks on that list. The Vandura and the Hummer are WTF picks, and I would’ve gone differently for the Cadillac because (puts on flame suit) the 59 Cadillac is one of the gaudiest, most overblown, overrated designs ever put to metal. It's just flat out ugly, like most of the late 50s cars.
